The Farwell Mansion was built in 1842 for Captain Ebenezer Farwell. Captain Farwell was a slave trader who died during a voyage to Africa before living in the home. The second owner of the home was Israel Weeks who welcomed fugitive slaves heading northbound on the Underground Railroad to hide in the cellar of the home accessed through an underground tunnel. Please note that this home is private and not open to the public.
